Words for Good would like to congratulate Stopover, Inc. for securing $862,835 to sustain their Transitional Living Program (TLP) for an additional five years.
This Indianapolis-based program attends to the needs of individuals who are not in the child welfare, foster care, juvenile justice or correctional systems, but who are otherwise unable to continue living in their family homes. This initiative is especially critical, due to the fact that no other homeless shelters currently exist for at-risk youth in the area.
Since 2008, Stopover’s TLP has served 60 homeless and runaway children and young adults between the ages of 16-22 years old. With the capacity of eight residents at any given time, Stopover is dedicated to providing shelter, education, employment assistance, life skills development courses, health care referrals, and aftercare counseling and support opportunities for Indianapolis children and their families.
