Southeast Community Services Receives $25,000 Grant from The Women’s Fund

Southeast Community Services, Inc. (SECS), a neighborhood center serving southeast Indianapolis, has been selected to receive a $25,000 award from the Women’s Fund of Central Indiana, a fund of Central Indiana Community Foundation (CICF). SECS will use grant funds to support its “Moving Forward” program which aims to break the cycle of crime and promote self-sufficiency among 30+ female ex-offenders in southeast Indianapolis. Specifically, the program will respond to the unique barriers faced by female ex-offenders in gaining and maintaining employment, including childcare, transportation, assistance with rent/utilities, and “educational restarts” for women re-entering school. In the words of the Women’s Fund, “The work [SECS is] doing to improve conditions for women and girls is vital to the health and strength of our community.” Congratulations, SECS!
