Research Grants for End-of-Life/Palliative Needs of Adolescents and Young Adults with Serious Illnesses

The National Institutes of Health recently announced its End-of-Life and Palliative Needs of Adolescents and Young Adults (AYA) with Serious Illnesses (R21) research grant program. The purpose of this funding opportunity is twofold: (1) to foster research on the unique perspectives, needs, wishes, and decision-making processes of adolescents and young adults with serious, advanced illnesses; and (2) to support research on specific end-of-life/palliative care models that support the physical, psychological, spiritual, and social needs of AYA with serious illness, their families and caregivers. Applicants may request up to $275,000 in total direct costs for the two year grant period. This opportunity will remain open until 2019, with the earliest date for submission being January 16, 2016.
