Words for Good is excited to announce several grant awards to clients over the past month. Southeast Community Services, Inc. (SECS) is the recipient of two recent awards: a $30,000 award from the Nina Mason Pulliam Charitable Trust and a $30,000 award from the City of Indianapolis’ Emergency Shelter Grants program (ESG). Both awards will support SECS’s Center for Working Families, which provides a comprehensive asset-building approach to employment, self-sufficiency and financial security for disadvantaged individuals and families. On behalf of the Louisville Asset Building Coalition (LABC), Metro United Way received a $64,000 grant from the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program to help more than 9,000 low-income individuals prepare their tax returns next tax season. And, finally, Community Health Network’s Center of Hope received a $13,125 grant from the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute’s VOCA grant program so that it may continue providing forensic services for victims of violence on the east side of Indianapolis, particularly victims of sexual assault and inter-personal violence. Stay tuned for more grant awards as several additional announcements are forthcoming!
