Nursing Workforce Diversity Program
Nursing Workforce Diversity Program

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) released a Funding Opportunity Announcement for its Nursing Diversity Workforce (NDW) Program. The initiative of the NDW is to eliminate disparity and promote equity in the nursing field, and encourage an education in healthcare for individuals from educationally and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. NDW programs seek, recruit, and retain underrepresented students in nursing, including racial and ethnic minorities and individuals who are educationally and economically disadvantaged, and provide them with the academic and financial support needed to secure their degree. Eligible applicants include accredited schools of nursing, nursing centers, academic health centers, State or local governments, and other private or public entities determined appropriate. HRSA plans on awarding 15 grants of up to $350,000 per year over a three-year period. Funding beyond the first year will depend on performance. Applications are due March 8, 2013.
