The National Science Foundation (NSF) released a new grant opportunity to support women in science and engineering careers. The goal of the ADVANCE: Increasing the Participation and Advancement of Women in Academic Science and Engineering Careers  program is “to develop systemic approaches to increase the representation and advancement of women in academic STEM careers, thereby contributing to the development of a more diverse science and engineering workforce.”  Rather than supporting activities to increase or retain the number of women entering into or persisting in STEM doctoral degree programs, ADVANCE focuses on ensuring that women faculty consider academia as a viable and attractive career option. The preliminary proposal deadline is October 4th and the full proposal deadline is November 12th. See here for a list of previous awards.
