New HRSA Grant Opportunities

The Health Resources and Services Administration has announced several grant opportunities. The Health Workforce Research Center (HWRC) Cooperative Agreement Program is designed to support high quality, impartial, policy-relevant research on the health workforce available to assist federal, state, and local decision-makers in understanding health workforce needs and ensuring access to high quality, efficient healthcare. HRSA expects to make three cooperative agreement awards of no more than $500,000 each. Applications are due January 7, 2013. HRSA has also announced two nursing-related opportunities, including the Advanced Nursing Education (ANE) Program which supports advanced nursing education programs that address the healthcare needs of patients with multiple chronic conditions. HRSA expects to make approximately 30 ANE grant awards of no more than $375,000 per year for three years. Applications are due February 1, 2013. In addition, the Nurse Education, Practice, Quality, and Retention (NEPQR) Program supports projects that strengthen the nursing workforce, increase nurse retention, promote coordinated care, improve the quality of patient care, and provide nurses with the necessary skills for practicing in existing and new organized healthcare systems. HRSA expects to make approximately 20 NEPQR cooperative agreement awards of no more than $500,000 per year for three years. Applications are due January 25, 2013.
