Under the Health Center Program, the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) released a Funding Opportunity Announcement for its New Access Point (NAP) Grants. The NAP program is designed to expand access to healthcare services to underserved and vulnerable populations by creating new access points that: (1) provide comprehensive primary medical care; (2) provide services without regard to ability to pay; (3) ensure access to services for all individuals in the targeted service area/population; and (4) provide services at one or more permanent delivery site. Eligible applicants are public or private nonprofit entities, including community-based organizations. The project period is two years. HRSA anticipates making 25 awards, not to exceed $650,000 per year. Applications are due in grants.gov (Phase 1) on February 27, 2013, and in HRSA EHB on April 3, 2013 (Phase 2).
