The Johnson & Johnson Community Health Care Scholars Program (J&J CHC), in conjunction with the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health (JHSPH) has released a grant funding opportunity that awards $200,000 over a 2 1/2 year period to programs that promote healthy lifestyles for youth, in order to serve populations that have been especially affected by childhood obesity. Approximately 8 grants will be awarded in 2013 for organizations in (1) Louisville, KY [Jefferson County]; (2) Chicago IL [Cook County]; (3) Las Vegas, NV [Clark County]; (4) Charlotte, NC [Mecklenburg County]; and (5) Washington, DC [District of Columbia]. Eligible entities include 501C3 organizations from one of the five areas listed above that are willing to “engage in a formative program design process established by J&J CHC and JHSPH. Foundations, institutions in higher education, research organizations, and programs with in-house evaluators are not allowed to apply. Applications are due May 15, 2013.
