Implementation Support for State Demonstrations to Integrate Care for Medicare and Medicaid Enrollees

The submission deadline for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services’ Implementation Support for State Demonstrations to Integrate Care for Medicare-Medicaid Enrollees has been extended until May 29, 2013. This funding involves a cooperative agreement between CMS and state governments, who together will test innovative payment and service delivery models over a two-year period in order to enhance the provision of Medicare and Medicaid services in these areas. CMS will provide 100 percent of the financial support for the 12-months of said efforts, and 75 percent during the subsequent year. Funding is designated for those 15 states that have already submitted design contracts outlining their strategy for implementing integrated care for Medicare-Medicaid enrollees and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with CMS to confirm their intent to put these plans into action. CMS anticipates distributing up to $95 million to support 15 states. The estimated award value per state could range anywhere from $1-15 million, and will be contingent on the demonstration of need and merit evident in each application. CMS anticipates announcing the first group of award recipients by June 12, 2013. Those states selected during the second round of deliberations will be notified three days later on July 15, 2013. The two-year budget period for each cohort will commence on these dates.
