The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced a new funding opportunity for accredited schools of nursing with advanced education nursing degree programs: Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP). Words for Good® has collaborated with various institutions on the preparation of successful HRSA Bureau of Nursing applications in the past.

The grant is aimed at increasing the number of qualified nurse faculty by assisting schools with establishing and operating NFLP loan funds. Schools make loans from the funds to help registered nurses complete their graduate education to become nurse faculty. Up to 85 percent of loan amounts can be cancelled for graduates that agree to serve as full-time nursing faculty.

HRSA anticipates awarding a total of $22,500,000 to 110 awardees.  Awards will be formula-based for a one-year period. Submissions are due February 3, 2014.
