HRSA Announces Funding for Public Health Traineeships

The Health Resources and Services Administration has announced the availability of $2.3 million for public health traineeships.

Funding will support tuition, fees, stipends, and allowances for students pursuing graduate level education in epidemiology, environmental health, biostatistics, toxicology, nutrition, or maternal and child health. These public health disciplines are currently experiences severe workforce shortages – particularly in state and local health departments. Support is intended to encourage students to pursue these disciplines.

Accredited schools of public health and other public or non-profit institutions accredited for providing public health training are eligible to apply.

HRSA anticipates making 30 awards. Applications are due on May 19, 2014.
