This solicitation is part of NIH’s Academic Research Enhancement Award (AREA) mechanism, which is intended to support undergraduate students in pursuing meritorious research and to strengthen the research environment of undergraduate institutions. As with all NIH solicitations, this grant opportunity is competitive and the application is extensive.
