Words for Good welcomes new client, the Felton Institute. Formerly the Family Service Agency of San Francisco, the Felton Institute is the longest standing nonsectarian, nonprofit social service provider in San Francisco. Founded in 1889, the Institute exists to respond to human needs through the provision of cutting edge, evidence-based social services with a special emphasis on the needs of low-income families, children, the elderly and people living with disabilities. It offers 34 programs in 11 languages at sites throughout San Francisco and the greater Bay Area.
One of its six divisions, Felton Research and Training, offers training for behavioral health providers in Motivational Care Management, Motivational Interviewing, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Psychosis, among other best practices. This division has also been the recipient of funds from both the National Institute of Mental Health and Patient Centered Outcomes Research Institute (PCORI). All of the Felton Institute’s work turns on the belief that everyone in need of social services and behavioral health care are entitled to the best treatment available; accordingly, it has committed itself to finding, developing, implementing, disseminating, and sustaining best practices throughout the fields of social work, mental health, behavioral health, and social services. Words for Good is privileged to work with the Felton Institute in its mission to transform behavioral health practice and systems.
