Half of Indiana residents live in rural areas with populations of less than 10,000 and as a result are likely to lack access to a variety of health services. Created in 1997, the Indiana Rural Health Association (IRHA) exists to improve the health care infrastructure in rural Indiana and boasts an impressive record of leading transformation in rural health care. With federal grant funds, IRHA developed the Indiana Statewide Rural Health Network, a network of nearly 25 critical access and rural hospitals committed to improving health care delivery for rural residents. In addition, IRHA leads the Indiana Telehealth Network which works to enhance the health and well-being of rural residents through telemedicine and other innovative technology. Words for Good® is grateful to be collaborating with IRHA on its next big plans!
