Doing Good: Children’s Oncology Services

Often times, a diagnosis of a cancer for a child can mean not only hours in hospitals, doctors offices, and clinics but also a loss of the simple pleasures of childhood.  Children’s Oncology Services is working to address this through its One Step Camps and programs.

The programs allow children with cancer to just be kids. Programs range from camps, skiing, horseback riding, and government advocacy trips.

The organization began over 25 years ago by Dr. Edward Baum at Children’s Memorial Hospital in Chicago. Since that time, the organization has reached more than 11,000 children and their families.
