You might not be surprised to read that the American Red Cross (ARC) is the largest private-sector provider of disaster services, but did you know that ARC is also the nation’s largest blood collection organization? Yep, ARC supplies more than 40 percent of the blood and blood products used in the U.S.
Across the country, ARC responds to over 70,000 natural and man-made disasters each year, including fires, hurricanes, floods, earthquakes, tornadoes, hazardous material spills, transportation accidents, and explosions. Over 1,600 of these incidents occurred in Indiana over the past year. And did you know that ARC also provides health and safety training and education, support to the armed forces, veterans and their families, and international services?
