If you are an Indiana business, industry, government, or nonprofit leader, you will appreciate an introduction to the IUPUI Solution Center. The Solution Center, a division of the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research, is located at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI) and exists to facilitate engagement between the university and communities throughout Indiana. The primary goal of its efforts to collaborate campus and community is to increase the numbers of highly trained and degreed professionals in the state, thereby building a pipeline of intellectual capital so that the state can achieve economic gains. Solution Center staff help connect IUPUI talent and expertise to pressing community needs. They also provide guidance in identifying, developing, and managing community-based research and other projects. In addition, the Center hosts the Community Venture Fund Grant Program, which awards matching funds for student/intern salaries, faculty support, research assistance, and limited project supplies. Since 2004, the Solution Center has worked with nearly 1,000 community partners, developed over 3,000 engagements, awarded $2.4 million in grants, and leveraged almost $4 million in matching funds in support of its engagement mission.
