This month we want to shine a light on Cancer Support Community Central Indiana, not only because their Laughing Matters (featuring Seth Meyers!) is coming up on March 19th, but because their mission struck a chord with us. Most often in our niche of health care grants, we are looking at cancer in terms of medical care or research. That’s why the work done by Cancer Support Community gave us pause for thought: it exists so that no one faces cancer alone. With an emphasis on providing psychosocial supports, the Community offers free comprehensive programming, including: individual counseling, support and networking groups, wellness and stress reduction classes (think yoga, as an example), social connectedness (such as a dinner club), and programming to support children impacted by cancer (cooking, art, music, drawing, games).
On March 19, 2016, Cancer Support Community will host its annual Laughing Matters fundraiser at Hilbert Circle Theater in Indianapolis. The event will feature “Late Night” host Seth Meyers. Click here to purchase tickets!
