Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Announces Partnerships in Implementing Patient Safety II

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) is accepting applications for its Partnerships in Implementing Patient Safety II program. The purpose is to elicit safe practice interventions that reduce or eliminate medical errors, risks, hazards and harms associated with the process of healthcare. This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) follows a previous cycle in 2005 that funded 15 projects. Examples include: a project by Emory University to improve hospital discharge through medication reconciliation and education; and a project by Arizona State University to improve patient flow and safety in the emergency department. Standard National Institutes of Health due dates apply, with upcoming deadlines on January 25th, May 25th, and September 25th. The project period is 24 months and the maximum award amount is $300,000 per year.
